2022 was a pivotal year for our organisation – a year that brought massive changes that have set us on a new and exciting trajectory within the European energy market.

Following the Russian invasion in Ukraine, our ultimate parent company in Berlin – then Gazprom Germania GmbH – and all of its subsidiaries were secured under a trusteeship of Germany’s Federal Network Agency in June 2022.

This became the first of what would become several major changes for us in the coming months:

  • On 17 June 2022, Gazprom Germania GmbH renamed to became SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH
  • On 01 August 2022, our company name, previously Gazprom Marketing & Trading Retail Limited, changed to SEFE Energy Limited. At the same time, our London-based parent company became SEFE Marketing & Trading Limited.
  • On 14 November 2022, the Federal Government of Germany became the sole owner of SEFE Group and all its subsidiaries, including SEFE Energy
  • On 22 May 2023, we announced that we’d be uniting our expertise across astora, SEFE Energy, SEFE GmbH, SEFE Marketing & Trading, and WINGAS to become one fully-integrated SEFE.

We’re now proud to be part of the SEFE group, led by SEFE Securing Energy for Europe in Berlin.

As a fully-integrated energy company, SEFE serves its customers with one end-to-end energy value chain – from sourcing and trading to transport, storage and sales.

Despite our new name, some things have stayed the same. We remain steadfast in our commitment to offering a reliable and customer-focused service to businesses and organisations across Great Britain and elsewhere in Europe.

This change means we have entered a new chapter, one we are all very excited about, but it does not impact our day-to-day operations. We remain steadfast in our commitment to offering a reliable and customer-focused service to businesses and organisations across Great Britain.

For customers, your energy supply agreement has not been amended or affected at the result of this change, and we are still using the same bank details (please ensure the name states SEFE Energy Limited), telephone numbers and addresses so please do contact us through normal channels.
