A gas meter which is attached to a gas supply is the property of the meter asset manager from whom it is rented. If that gas meter is removed from the supply by anybody other than the registered meter asset manager it is the responsibility of the end user to ensure the meter is returned to the meter asset manager. Until the meter is returned to the meter asset manager meter rental charges will continue to be applied. We cannot close an account until the meter is removed from the national database so the standing charge will be applied until the supply can be ceased.
