Automated Meter Readings (AMR)

An Automated Meter Reading (AMR) device takes meter readings and automatically sends us the data. We then use this data to calculate your bills based on your actual use. They’re similar to smart meters you’d find in your home or in a small business, except they don’t have a visual display.

Why should I get an Automated Meter Reader installed?

Automated Meter Readers offer a range of benefits:

• Automated meter readings – no site visits to read your meters. Your AMR sends the information every day, week or month.
• More accurate bills – you can say goodbye to estimated meter readings. All your bills are accurate, calculated using your actual energy usage.
• Easier cost handling - apportion costs to profit or cost centres, understand your use and control your energy buying.
• Reduce waste - use data service with your meter to change your energy use, reduce waste and possibly reduce costs.
• No extra cost – we don’t charge a penny for installation. If you’re a micro-business, we’ll install a smart meter instead.
• Make changing supplier easier - no need to take a read on transfer day and no unexpected bills.

Can I get an AMR?

If you’re a small business, then we’ll install a smart meter instead of an AMR.

Bigger business? Then yes.

We might need to upgrade your meter before we can install your AMR.
